GENEVA, March 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The WHO Foundation announced a collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company that aims to support the WHO Foundation's global efforts to assess and strengthen health systems for obesity prevention and care.
Obesity is one of the most pressing global health challenges. In 2022, more than 2.5 billion adults and over 390 million children and adolescents worldwide are overweight, with 1 in 8 people worldwide living with obesity, the prevalence of which has doubled in adults since 1990.
Lilly is committing $1.68 million to the WHO Foundation until 2029 in support of efforts to strengthen health systems for obesity care. This collaboration responds to the growing need to address obesity as a public health and development priority and to strengthen the systems needed to respond equitably and sustainably in resource-limited settings. This initiative aims to enable access to early diagnosis, counseling and care, and reduce the worldwide economic impact of obesity and mitigate this global health risk.

Die Staatsanwaltschaft Karlsruhe geht mit einer großangelegten Razzia gegen ein mutmaßlich europaweit agierendes rechtsextremes Verlagsnetzwerk vor. Im Zentrum der Ermittlungen steht der Verlag „Der Schelm“, der seit Jahren antisemitische Schriften, Nachdrucke aus der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus sowie rassistische und den Holocaust leugnende Veröffentlichungen über einen Onlineversand vertreibt. Die Durchsuchungen begannen am Mittwochmorgen zeitgleich in mehreren Bundesländern sowie im Ausland und richten sich gegen insgesamt acht Beschuldigte.
Nach Angaben der Staatsanwaltschaft werden sechs Männern und zwei Frauen deutscher Herkunft vorgeworfen, zwischen 2022 und 2024 in mindestens 488 Fällen gemeinschaftlich volksverhetzende Druckwerke hergestellt, verbreitet, geliefert und gelagert zu haben. Zu den Beschuldigten zählen unter anderem zwei Druckereibesitzer, ein Grafiker, ein IT-Spezialist und der Inhaber eines Business-Centers. Ein Druckereibesitzer soll Beihilfe geleistet haben. Hauptbeschuldigter ist der aus Leipzig stammende Verlagsinhaber Adrian P., der seit Jahren im Ausland lebt und laut früheren Angaben bereits einmal einer Auslieferung entgangen sein soll.
Bundesweit rückte das Landeskriminalamt Baden-Württemberg mit Unterstützung örtlicher Polizeikräfte aus. Durchsucht wurden Wohnungen und Geschäftsräume in Baden-Württemberg, Bayern, Brandenburg, Nordrhein-Westfalen und Sachsen, darunter nach rbb-Informationen Standorte in Leipzig, Pforzheim, Neuenbürg, Bottrop, Schönwald und Wertheim. Parallel dazu koordinierten die Karlsruher Ermittler Maßnahmen im Ausland: In Polen wurde eine Druckerei überprüft, in Spanien nahmen sich Beamte eine Lagerhalle sowie weitere Privat- und Firmenräume vor.
Die Einsatzkräfte stellten umfangreiche Beweismittel sicher, darunter gedruckte Schriften, Bestelllisten, Propagandamaterial, NS-Devotionalien sowie Computer und Datenträger. Der Verlag „Der Schelm“ bietet nach übereinstimmenden Recherchen seit mindestens einem Jahrzehnt rund 100 Nachdrucke antisemitischer Bücher und Schriften aus der NS-Zeit sowie weitere in Deutschland verbotene Titel an. Ermittler sehen in den aktuellen Maßnahmen einen weiteren Schritt, die Vertriebsstrukturen des Netzwerks zu zerschlagen und die Verantwortung der mutmaßlichen Betreiber strafrechtlich aufzuarbeiten.
